Summer Trip to Cape Cod

There is no doubt that the Cape Cod area is definitely a vacation destination. It is full of entertainment venues, natural wonders and miles of sunny beaches that are the main appeal of this area. Each of the different towns that is located in Cape Cod have their own specific appeal. When you are visiting in the summer month there is no doubt that the beach will be a primary destination. However, do not rule out the other things to d and places to experience that are present.

In addition to beautiful beaches you can also experience a number of festivals in the summer months when you visit Cape Cod. Some of these festivals include:

  • The Strawberry Festival: This occurs in the town of East Sandwich. This festival is in honor of everything strawberry. You can take part in the old process of old fashioned strawberry jam making and enjoy the extraordinary garden and trails of the Green Briar Nature center, which hosts the event.
  • A Celebration of the Arts: This festival celebrates all things jazz. It is located on the Bass River and features local artists and a jazz brunch. You can purchase local art at the art show and enjoy the live jazz music and theatre performances.
  • Fourth of July Parade: This takes place on July 4th in Chatham. This travels through the main part of town that is historically and culturally rich. That night you can watch a public fireworks display to celebrate the holiday.
  • The Annual Secret Garden Tour: This takes place in Provincetown. It features ten of the area’s most beautiful gardens, many that you would never find on your own. Those holding tickets for the event receive premier parking.
  • The Barnstable County Fair: This is an old fashioned, down home fair featuring all the fair favorites. This is a definite crowd favorite, having fun activities for everyone.
  • The Peter Rabbit’s Animal Day: This event occurs annually in Sandwich. It is hosted by Thornton Burgess Museum and features live exhibits including a pet rabbit. You can also enjoy a story time and refreshments. This is a free event for everyone.
  • Dennis Festival Days: This typically wraps up the summer festivities in Cape Cod and offers a whole week of fun and activities. Some of the events you can take part in include an antique car parade, a contest of sand sculptures, fireworks display and a 10k race.
